[Ingredients] Metronidazole.
[Properties] This product is a milky white to light yellow fat-soluble suppository.
[Indications] Used to treat Trichomonas vaginitis. It can also be used to prevent and treat anaerobic infections after minor gynecological surgery.
[Usage and Dosage] Vaginal administration: 0.5g once, 0.5g once every night, for 7 to 10 days, and metronidazole tablets should be taken at the same time, 0.2g each time, four times a day, for seven consecutive days.
[Adverse reactions] Same as tablets.
[Contraindications] Prevented pregnant and lactating women.
[Precautions] 1. Interference with diagnosis, the metabolites of this product can be dark red urine. 2. The dose should be reduced for patients with existing liver disease. The drug should be discontinued when movement disorders or other central nervous system symptoms occur, and a white blood cell count should be performed before repeating a course of treatment. For patients with anaerobic glue infection and renal failure, the interval between doses should be extended from 8 hours to 12 hours. 3. This product can inhibit alcohol metabolism. Drinking should be stopped during medication. Abdominal pain, vomiting, headache and other symptoms may occur after drinking.

[Pharmacological action] This product is a nitroimidazole derivative that can inhibit the redox reaction of amoeba and break the nitrogen chain of the protozoa. In vitro tests have shown that when the drug concentration is 1~2mg/L, the histolytic amoeba can undergo morphological changes in 6~20 hours and all are killed within 24 hours. At a concentration of 0.2mg/L, the histolytic amoeba can be killed within 72 hours. This product has a strong effect of killing trichomonas, and its mechanism is unknown. Metronidazole has a killing effect on cells and anaerobic microorganisms growing under hypoxic conditions. The metabolites generated when it is reduced in the human body also have anti-anaerobic effects, inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial deoxyribonucleic acid, thereby interfering with bacterial growth and reproduction, and ultimately causing bacterial death.
