Product Overview

[Drug Name]
Generic Name: Vitamin U Belladonna Aluminum Capsules
Trade Name: Gan Yan Vitamin U Belladonna Aluminum Capsules (36 capsules)
Pinyin Full Code: GanYan WeiUDianQieLvJiaoNangш 36Li

[Main Ingredients]
This product is a compound preparation. Each capsule contains 50 mg of vitamin U (iodomethylmethionine), 140 mg of aluminum hydroxide, and 10 mg of belladonna extract.

[Indications/Main Functions]
For gastric and duodenal ulcers, chronic gastritis, excessive gastric acid, and stomach cramps.

[Specifications]
36 capsules

[Dosage and Administration]
Oral. Adults: 1 capsule three times daily.

[Adverse Reactions]
1. Constipation, decreased sweating, dryness of the mouth, nose, throat, and skin, blurred vision, and difficulty urinating (especially in the elderly).
2. Rare cases may include eye pain, increased intraocular pressure, allergic rash or herpes. Symptoms include abnormal taste, slowed breathing, and extreme fatigue.

[Contraindications]
1. Contraindicated in patients with appendicitis or abdominal pain.
2. Contraindicated in patients with fractures or hypophosphatemia.
3. Contraindicated in patients with allergies to this product.

[Drug Interactions]
1. Avoid taking other medications within 1-2 hours of taking this medication, as it may bind with aluminum hydroxide, reducing absorption and affecting efficacy.
2. Concomitant use with cimetidine and ranitidine is effective in relieving the pain symptoms of duodenal ulcers, but it is generally not recommended to take both drugs within 1 hour, as this may reduce the absorption of cimetidine and ranitidine.
3. Concomitant use with digitalis glycosides may affect their absorption and decrease blood concentrations.
4. Concomitant use with enteric-coated tablets may accelerate dissolution of the enteric coating and may cause irritation to the stomach and duodenum.
5. When used with urinary alkalizing drugs, including carbonic anhydrase inhibitors, this may delay the excretion of belladonna, potentially enhancing both efficacy and toxicity.
6. The toxic and side effects of belladonna may be exacerbated when used with amantadine, meclizine, phenothiazines, other anticholinergics, primidone, procainamide, and tricyclic antidepressants.
7. When used with antacids or absorbent laxatives, belladonna absorption is reduced and its efficacy is weakened. The two should be taken at least one hour apart.
8. When used with codeine or methadone, severe constipation may occur, leading to paralytic ileus and/or urinary retention.
9. When used with metoclopramide, its gastrointestinal motility-promoting effects may be antagonized by belladonna. 10. When used with monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors such as furazolidone and procarbazine, belladonna's hepatic detoxification is blocked, thereby potentiating its adverse M-cholinergic effects. Furthermore, these inhibitors themselves have M-cholinergic effects.

[Precautions]
1. This product may cause constipation and may even cause stool lumps.
2. Aluminum hydroxide can adsorb bile salts when used in large doses, thereby reducing the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins, especially vitamin A.
3. People who are intolerant to atropine or other belladonna alkaloids may also be intolerant to belladonna.
4. Patients with the following diseases should use Vitamin U Belladonna Aluminum Capsules II with caution: (1) heart disease, especially arrhythmia, congestive heart failure, coronary heart disease, mitral valve stenosis, etc.; (2) reflux esophagitis; (3) gastrointestinal obstructive diseases; (4) glaucoma (angle-closure type or latent type); (5) acute bleeding with cardiovascular insufficiency; (6) moderate liver and kidney function damage; (7) hypertension; (8) hyperthyroidism; (9) myasthenia gravis; (10) autonomic nervous system diseases; (11) prostatic hypertrophy, non-obstructive urinary tract diseases (low bladder tone) and obstructive urinary tract diseases; (12) ulcerative colitis.

[Pharmacology and Toxicology]
The vitamin U in belladonna aluminum capsules (Vitamin U in belladonna aluminum capsules) has the effect of cleansing ulcer surfaces and promoting ulcer healing. Aluminum hydroxide chemically neutralizes or buffers existing gastric acid, raising the gastric pH and thereby alleviating symptoms of excessive gastric acid. However, its acid-neutralizing ability is lower than that of magnesium-containing preparations and calcium carbonate, but higher than that of aluminum carbonate and sodium dihydroxyaluminum carbonate. Belladonna extract has an anticholinergic effect, inhibiting the muscarinic effects of acetylcholine and targeting cholinergic receptors in smooth muscle, myocardium, the sinoatrial and atrioventricular nodes, and glands. Large amounts of belladonna can also reduce gastrointestinal motility and secretion, and reduce ureteral and bladder tension. It only slightly relaxes the common bile duct and gallbladder. Belladonna's antiemetic effect primarily stems from its ability to reduce stress hormones in receptors in the labyrinth and inhibit conduction in nerve pathways between the vestibule and cerebellum.
