Pharmacological Action:
This product is a cyclized derivative of γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) that improves brain function. It can cross the blood-brain barrier and selectively act on the central nervous system. Animal studies have shown that this product significantly enhances the memory retrieval process of discrimination learning in normal rats, counteracts hypoxia-induced memory impairment, and effectively improves memory impairment caused by certain causes.
Pharmacokinetics:
After oral administration in humans, the average elimination half-life of the parent drug from the blood is 22 minutes, and blood concentrations are undetectable after 4 hours. Animal studies have shown that this product is primarily distributed in the gastrointestinal tract, kidneys, liver, brain, and blood. After 24 hours, 77-85% is excreted in the urine and 4% in the feces. The main metabolites in urine are N-(4-amino)-benzamidobutyric acid and 5-hydroxy-2-pyrrolidone.
