[Properties]
This product is a white or off-white tablet.
[Indications]
It is primarily used for patients with functional dyspepsia and chronic gastritis accompanied by gastrointestinal symptoms such as heartburn, belching, nausea, vomiting, early satiety, upper abdominal distension, and upper abdominal pain.
[Dosage and Administration]
Oral, 5 mg (one tablet) three times daily, before or after meals, or as directed by a physician.
[Adverse Reactions]
Mainly diarrhea, abdominal pain, dry mouth, rash, fatigue, and dizziness. Occasionally, eosinophilia, elevated triglycerides, and elevated alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alkaline phosphatase (AKP), and gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase (GGT) levels may occur.
[Contraindications]
Contraindicated in patients with allergies to this product.
[Precautions]
Discontinue use if gastrointestinal symptoms persist after a period of use (usually 2 weeks).
[Use in Special Populations]
Precautions for Pediatric Use: The safety of this product in children has not been established (no experience).
Precautions for Pregnancy and Lactation: Avoid use of this product because its safety has not been established.
Precautions for Elderly Patients: Careful observation is required during use of this product. Any adverse reactions should be promptly addressed appropriately, such as reducing the dosage.
[Drug Interactions]
Concomitant use with anticholinergic drugs (such as atropine sulfate and butylscopolamine bromide) may weaken the efficacy of this product.
[Pharmacological Actions]
This product is a selective 5-hydroxytryptamine 4 (5-HT4) receptor agonist. It stimulates 5-HT4 receptors in gastrointestinal cholinergic interneurons and myenteric plexuses, promoting the release of acetylcholine, thereby enhancing upper gastrointestinal motility (stomach and small intestine). Studies suggest that this product promotes gastric and duodenal motility and accelerates gastric emptying.
