Product Overview
[Drug Name]
Generic Name: Compound Glycyrrhizin Tablets
Trade Name: Ganyu
English Name: Compound Glycyrrhizin Tablets
Chinese Pinyin: Fufang gancansuangan pian
[Ingredients]
Glycyrrhizin
[Properties]
This product is a white sugar-coated tablet.
[Indications]
Treatment of chronic liver disease and improvement of abnormal liver function. It can be used to treat eczema, dermatitis, and alopecia areata.
[Dosage]
Adults usually take 2-3 tablets at a time; children take 1 tablet at a time, orally three times a day after meals. The dosage may be increased or decreased based on age and symptoms.
[Adverse Reactions]
The exact frequency of side effects associated with the use of this preparation has not been investigated. Important Side Effects: Pseudoaldosteronism (frequency unknown): Symptoms of pseudoaldosteronism, such as hypokalemia, increased blood pressure, sodium and fluid retention, edema, decreased urine volume, and weight gain, may occur. Therefore, during medication, close observation (serum potassium levels, etc.) is essential. If abnormalities are detected, discontinue use. In addition, symptoms of rhabdomyolysis, such as weakness, muscle pain, limb cramps, and paralysis, may occur. If elevated CK (CPK) or blood or urine myoglobin levels are observed, the drug should be discontinued and appropriate treatment initiated.
[Contraindications]
The following patients should not receive this medication: 1. Patients with aldosteronism, myopathy, or hypokalemia (which may worsen hypokalemia and hypertension). 2. Patients with advanced cirrhosis who are prone to elevated blood ammonium levels (the methionine metabolites contained in this preparation can inhibit urea synthesis, thereby reducing the ability to process ammonia).
[Precautions]
1. Use with caution: Use with caution in elderly patients (the incidence of hypokalemia is higher in elderly patients) (see medication for elderly patients). 2. General Precautions: Because this preparation contains glycyrrhizin, concomitant use with other licorice-containing preparations can increase glycyrrhizin levels in the body, potentially leading to pseudoaldosteronism. Caution is advised. 3. Dosage Instructions: When the drug is delivered, the patient should be instructed to remove the tablet from the aluminum platinum packaging before taking the drug. (There have been reports of esophageal mucosal damage and even perforation, leading to serious complications such as mediastinitis, when the aluminum platinum packaging is taken together.)
[Use in Special Populations]
Precautions for Children:
No studies have demonstrated differences in pharmacology, toxicology, or pharmacokinetics compared to adults. For drug use, please refer to[Dosage and Administration] and [Precautions].
Precautions for Pregnancy and Lactation:
Pregnant and lactating women should be given the drug with caution after weighing the benefits against the risks.
Precautions for Elderly Patients:
Based on clinical experience, the elderly are more susceptible to adverse reactions such as hypokalemia. Therefore, careful administration is required under close observation.
[Drug Interactions]
1. Be careful when taking combined medications.
2. Drugs (loop diuretics, uric acid, furosemide, thiazide and antihypertensive diuretics, trichloromethiazide, chlorthalidone, etc.) may cause hypokalemia (fatigue, muscle weakness) and require careful observation of serum potassium levels.
3. Mechanism and consequences: Diuretics can enhance the potassium excretion effect of glycyrrhizic acid contained in this preparation, further lowering serum potassium.
[Pharmacological Actions]
1. Anti-inflammatory effects: (1) Anti-allergic effects. (2) Inhibition of arachidonic acid metabolic enzymes. 2. Immunomodulatory effects. 3. Inhibition of experimental hepatocyte damage. 4. Inhibition of viral proliferation and inactivation of viruses.
