[Properties]
This product is a capsule containing off-white or light yellow granular powder with a small amount of black particles; it has a slight odor.
[Indications]
It is used for habitual constipation and senile constipation. It can also be used to prevent and treat hyperlipidemia and diabetes.
[Dosage and Administration]
Oral. Constipation: Adults: 2-4 capsules at a time. Children: 1-2 capsules 3 times a day. The initial dose can be doubled. After effective treatment, the maintenance dose is 3-6 capsules per day, which can be taken all at once. Take on an empty stomach with 150ml of warm water. Diabetes and hyperlipidemia: 3-4 capsules 3 times a day on an empty stomach.
[Adverse Reactions]
Some patients may experience thirst; drinking more water is recommended. Most patients may experience mild abdominal distension, which will resolve spontaneously after continued medication and bowel movements.

[Pharmacological Actions]
Glucomannan capsules are natural fiber-based plant polysaccharides that are not absorbed in the intestines. They have strong water-binding and water-retention properties. After absorbing water, their volume expands by more than 50 times. Therefore, they can increase stool volume and water content, making stool fluffy and moist, and facilitating excretion. The increased volume of the intestinal cavity stimulates the intestinal wall, reflexively increasing peristalsis, thereby shortening the interval between bowel movements and the average duration of each bowel movement, allowing for natural and smooth bowel movements without diarrhea. Glucomannan capsules absorb water and swell into a viscous sol, which increases the viscosity of food. They coat the intestinal mucosa, forming a diffusion barrier. They also absorb and bind to some carbohydrates, removing them from the body. This restricts the diffusion and absorption of carbohydrates within the intestine, reducing sugar absorption and stabilizing postprandial blood sugar levels. Glucomannan capsules absorb and bind to cholesterol in the intestine, removing it from the body, thereby reducing the body's absorption of neutral fats and cholesterol. By inhibiting the active transport of bile acids through the intestinal mucosa, they partially block the enterohepatic circulation of bile acids, reducing their reabsorption and thus lowering blood lipids.
