Trade Name: Yiping/Lunan
English Name: Acipimox Dispersible Tablets
Chinese Pinyin: Aximosi Fensanpian

[Ingredients]
Main ingredient: Acipimox.

[Properties]
Acipimox dispersible tablets are hard capsules containing white or off-white granules.

[Indications]
This product is used to treat hypertriglyceridemia (type IV), hypercholesterolemia (type IIa), and combined hypertriglyceridemia and hypercholesterolemia (type IIb).

[Dosage and Administration]
Oral administration: 250 mg once or twice daily. A low-fat and low-cholesterol diet is recommended during treatment.

[Adverse Reactions]
1. Long-term clinical observations in a large number of patients have confirmed that this drug is well tolerated. 2. Clinical controls and laboratory test results have shown that this drug has no toxic effects on major parenchymal organs and does not interfere with metabolic pathways (sugar and uric acid metabolism). 3. This drug may cause skin vasodilation (redness, hot flashes, and itching), especially in the initial stages of treatment.

[Contraindications]
This drug is contraindicated in patients with allergies, peptic ulcers, or severe renal insufficiency.

[Precautions]
Use with caution in lactating and pregnant women. Use with caution or reduce the dosage in patients with renal insufficiency.

[Special Population Use]
Precautions for Children: Contraindicated in children.
Precautions for Pregnancy and Lactation: Contraindicated in pregnant and lactating women.
Precautions for Elderly: Not yet known.

[Drug Interactions]
Can be used in combination with potent lipid-lowering drugs such as fenofibrate and lovastatin to enhance lipid-lowering effects, reduce dosage, and minimize side effects. This drug may enhance the efficacy of hypoglycemic drugs; therefore, the dosage of hypoglycemic drugs should be reduced and adjusted based on the patient's blood sugar level. This drug can be used in combination with probucol during antioxidant therapy.

[Pharmacological Action]
Acipimox inhibits the release of free fatty acids from adipose tissue, reducing very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) concentrations in the blood, and lowering triglyceride and total cholesterol levels. During treatment, acipimox may have a beneficial effect on high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, increasing its levels. Improvements in blood lipids are typically seen within the first month of treatment.
