This product is an azole antifungal drug and a dechlorinated derivative of miconazole. It has antibacterial effects on Candida, chromophores, Coccidioides, Histoplasma, Sporothrix, etc., and also has antibacterial activity against Trichophyton. This product has poor effects on Aspergillus, Sporothrix Schenckii, some dark spores, Mucor, etc. The mechanism of action is to interfere with the activity of cytochrome P-450, thereby inhibiting the biosynthesis of ergosterol, the main steroid of fungal cell membrane, damaging the fungal cell membrane and changing its permeability, resulting in leakage of important intracellular substances. This product can inhibit the biosynthesis of triglycerides and phospholipids in fungi, inhibit the activity of oxidases and peroxidases, cause the accumulation of hydrogen peroxide in cells, and lead to cell submicrostructure degeneration and cell necrosis. For Candida albicans, it can inhibit the process of its transformation from spores to invasive hyphae.
