[Ingredients]
The main ingredient of this product is lafutidine, whose chemical name is: (±)-2-[2-(furylmethyl)sulfinyl]-N-[4-[4-(piperidinylmethyl)-2-pyridinyl]oxy-(Z)-2-butenyl]acetamide.
[Properties]
This product is a film-coated tablet that appears white or off-white after removal of the film coating.
[Indications]
For gastric and duodenal ulcers.
[Dosage and Administration]
For adults, take 10 mg (one tablet) orally twice daily. Take after meals or at bedtime. [Adverse Reactions]
Side effects are mild. A small number of patients experience headache, drowsiness, diarrhea, nausea, skin flushing, rash, leukopenia, and occasionally thrombocytopenia, as well as elevated GOT and GPT. The incidence of side effects is low, toxicity is minimal, and the medication is well tolerated.
[Contraindications]
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known allergies to it or its ingredients.
[Precautions]
1. Use with caution in patients with a history of drug allergies;
2. Use with caution in elderly patients and those with impaired liver and kidney function (possibility of exacerbation of symptoms);
3. Use with caution in patients undergoing dialysis;
4. Gastric ulcers should be confirmed to be benign before treatment. Improvement of gastric ulcer symptoms after medication does not rule out the possibility of gastric cancer.
[Use in Special Populations]
Precautions for Pediatrics: Safety in children has not been established, and there is no experience with this medication.
Precautions for Pregnancy and Lactation: This medication is contraindicated in pregnant women or women who may become pregnant.
Precautions for the Elderly: Elderly individuals generally have reduced physiological functions, so attention should be paid to dosage and dosing intervals. Use with caution under close observation.
[Drug Interactions]
Other H2 receptor blockers can bind to cytochrome P450, thereby reducing the activity of hepatic microsomal drug-metabolizing enzymes. Therefore, caution should be exercised when using this drug with warfarin, phenytoin, theophylline, phenobarbital, diazepam, or propranolol and cimetidine.
[Pharmacological Actions]
Lafutidine is an H2 receptor blocker. It continuously inhibits gastric acid secretion; it acts on capsaicin-sensitive afferent neurons in the gastric mucosa, protecting the gastric mucosa, promoting mucosal repair, increasing gastric mucosal blood flow, and enhancing gastric mucus secretion.
