[Adverse Reactions]
In rare cases, the following adverse reactions may occur: gastrointestinal discomfort (such as nausea and stomach pain), allergic reactions of the skin and mucous membranes (such as swelling, rash, erythema, and itching), dyspnea, facial swelling, and fever with chills. Rarely, patients may experience dryness of the mouth and airways, increased salivation, increased nasal discharge, constipation, and difficulty urinating. In rare cases, severe hypersensitivity reactions, accompanied by severe circulatory impairment (anaphylactic shock), have occurred. In such cases, urgent medical attention is essential. There has been a report of allergic skin inflammation (contact dermatitis). If adverse reactions not mentioned above are observed during use or if the user is unsure of the drug's effects, consult your doctor or pharmacist. If an allergic reaction occurs, this product should not be taken again.
[Contraindications]
This product is contraindicated in patients with a hypersensitivity to the active ingredient, ambroxol hydrochloride, or any of the other components of the granules. The following conditions require specific use and special supervision, and consultation with a doctor is recommended. This should be continued even if these measures have been taken previously. Patients with renal impairment or severe liver disease should use this product with extreme caution (e.g., increasing the interval between doses or using a lower dose). In patients with certain rare bronchial diseases associated with excessive secretions (such as asthenic cilium syndrome), oral use of this product requires caution and must be under the supervision of a physician, as it may cause bronchial obstruction by secretions. Patients with hereditary fructose intolerance should consult a specialist before using this product (see Precautions).
[Drug Interactions]
If used with cough suppressants (antitussives), there is a risk of secretion blockage due to a weakened cough reflex. Therefore, the therapeutic range of the drug should be carefully considered before using these drugs together. If used with antibiotics (amoxicillin, cefuroxime, erythromycin, or doxycycline), the antibiotic's penetration into lung tissue may be increased.
[Precautions]
This product contains sugar; caution should be exercised when used by patients with diabetes. Because of the possibility of hereditary fructose intolerance, neonates and adolescents should consult a physician before using this product. There are also health risks for adolescents and adults with hereditary fructose intolerance; these individuals should also consult a physician before using this product. No special precautions are required when taking this product while traveling on the road, operating machinery, or in high-risk occupations. If renal insufficiency or severe liver disease exists, the interval between doses should be increased or the dosage should be reduced.
[Pharmacology and Toxicology]
This product is a mucolytic agent that increases secretion from serous glands in the respiratory mucosa and decreases mucous gland secretion, thereby reducing sputum viscosity. It also promotes the secretion of pulmonary surfactant and increases bronchial ciliary motility, making sputum easier to expectorate.
