[Dosage and Administration]
Tablets should be swallowed whole with liquid and should not be chewed or crushed. For patients with swallowing difficulties, dissolve the tablet in half a cup of carbonate-free water (other liquids should not be used as the enteric coating may dissolve), stir until the tablet is completely disintegrated, and consume immediately or within 30 minutes. Rinse with half a cup of water and drink. The pellets should never be chewed or crushed. For patients who cannot swallow, the tablets can be dissolved in carbonate-free water and administered via a gastric tube. It is important to carefully check the suitability of the selected syringe and gastric tube. The preparation and instructions for use are as follows: Administering through a gastric tube: 1. Place the tablet in a suitable syringe and add approximately 25ml of water and 5ml of air. Sometimes 50ml of water is required to prevent the tube from being blocked by the pellets. 2. Immediately shake the syringe for about 2 minutes to dissolve the tablet. 3. Point the syringe tip upward and check that the tip is not blocked. 4. Insert the syringe into the tube and hold it in this position. 5. Shake the syringe so that the tip is pointing downward. Immediately inject 5-10ml into the tube. After injection, turn the syringe over and shake it. (The syringe must be kept with the tip pointing upward to prevent the tip from being blocked). 6. Point the syringe tip downward and immediately inject another 5-10ml into the tube. Repeat this step until there is no liquid in the syringe. 7. If you need to wash out any remaining residue in the syringe, repeat step 5 and add 25ml of water and 5ml of air to the syringe. Sometimes 50ml of water is required. Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD): Treatment of reflux esophagitis: 40 mg once daily for four weeks. For patients whose esophagitis has not resolved or whose symptoms persist, an additional four weeks of treatment is recommended. For long-term maintenance treatment to prevent relapse in patients with resolved esophagitis: 20 mg once daily. For symptomatic control of GERD in patients without esophagitis: 20 mg once daily. If symptoms are not controlled after four weeks, the patient should be evaluated further. Once symptoms resolve, subsequent symptom control can be achieved with on-demand treatment (20 mg taken orally once daily as needed). For patients at risk of developing gastric or duodenal ulcers while taking NSAIDs, on-demand treatment is not recommended. For eradication of Helicobacter pylori and healing of H. pylori-associated duodenal ulcers, combined with appropriate antimicrobial therapy, prevention of recurrence of H. pylori-associated peptic ulcers: Esomeprazole magnesium enteric-coated tablets 20 mg + amoxicillin 1 g + clarithromycin 500 mg twice daily for seven days. Patients requiring ongoing NSAID therapy for gastric ulcers associated with NSAID use: Usual dose: 20 mg once daily for 4-8 weeks.
