[Properties]
This product is a white tablet.

[Indications]
Indicated for the treatment of bacterial and enteritis, or for the prevention of post-intestinal surgical infection.

[Dosage and Administration]
Oral. Adults: 1-3 g 3-4 times daily. Children: 100 mg/kg daily, divided into 4 doses based on body weight. The initial dose should be doubled.

[Adverse Reactions]
Oral administration may cause nausea, vomiting, anorexia, dizziness, headache, drug fever, rash, granulocytopenia, crystalluria, oliguria, and hematuria.

[Contraindications]
This product is contraindicated in patients with allergies.

[Precautions]
1. Use with caution in patients with hepatic or renal impairment.
2. Take orally before meals on an empty stomach. Do not take sodium bicarbonate concomitantly.

[Special Use]
Precautions for children: Contraindicated in premature infants, newborns, and infants under 2 months of age.
Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: Contraindicated in pregnant and lactating women. Precautions for Elderly Patients: Not yet known.

[Drug Interactions]
1. Concomitant use of urine alkalinizing agents may enhance the solubility of this drug in alkaline urine, leading to increased excretion.
2. Do not use with para-aminobenzoic acid, as para-aminobenzoic acid may replace this drug in bacterial uptake, resulting in antagonistic interactions. It should also not be used with para-aminobenzoyl-containing local anesthetics such as procaine and tetracaine.
3. For women taking estrogen-based contraceptives, prolonged concomitant use of this drug may reduce contraceptive effectiveness and increase the risk of menstrual bleeding.
4. Additive photosensitivity may occur when used with photosensitizing drugs.
5. Patients receiving this drug have an increased requirement for vitamin K.

This drug is the earliest sulfonamide antibiotic used for intestinal infections.
