[Pharmacological Actions]
Bicyclol is a biphenyl derivative. Animal studies have shown that bicyclol reduces the elevation of aminotransferases in mice with acute liver injury induced by carbon tetrachloride, D-galactosamine, and paracetamol, and in mice with immune-induced hepatitis, alleviating liver histopathological lesions to varying degrees. In vitro studies have shown that bicyclol inhibits the secretion of HBeAg, HBV DNA, and HBsAg in the 2.2.15 hepatoma cell line transfected with human hepatitis B virus.
