[Drug Interactions]
Combined use with anticholinergic drugs (such as atropine sulfate and butylscopolamine bromide) may weaken the efficacy of this drug.
[Pharmacological Actions]
This drug is a selective 5-hydroxytryptamine 4 (5-HT4) receptor agonist. By stimulating 5-HT4 receptors in gastrointestinal cholinergic interneurons and myenteric plexuses, it promotes acetylcholine release, thereby enhancing gastrointestinal motility and improving gastrointestinal symptoms in patients with functional dyspepsia. It does not affect gastric acid secretion. This drug has no affinity for dopamine D2, 5-HT1, and 5-HT2 receptors on brain synaptic membranes and, therefore, does not have the extrapyramidal side effects associated with blockade of these receptors. In toxicology studies, the oral LD50 of mosapride in mice was 2004 mg/kg, and the intraperitoneal LD50 was 587.77 mg/kg.
