[Ingredients]
The main ingredient of this product is furazolidone, whose chemical name is 3-(5-nitrofurfural amino)-oxazolidinone[2].

[Properties]
This product is a yellow tablet or sugar-coated tablet.

[Indications]
It is mainly used for bacterial dysentery, enteritis, cholera caused by sensitive bacteria. It can also be used for typhoid, paratyphoid, giardiasis, trichomoniasis, etc. It is used in combination with antacids and other drugs to treat antral gastritis caused by Helicobacter pylori.

[Usage and Dosage]
Oral. The usual dose for adults is 0.1g once, 3-4 times a day; for children, it is 5-10mg/kg per day, divided into 4 doses according to body weight. The course of treatment for intestinal infection is 5-7 days, and the course of treatment for giardiasis is 7-10 days. Pregnant and lactating women: Contraindicated. Pediatric use: Contraindicated in neonates.

[Adverse Reactions]
Main reactions include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, drug fever, rash, anal pruritus, asthma, orthostatic hypotension, hypoglycemia, and pulmonary infiltrates. Occasionally, hemolytic anemia, jaundice, and polyneuritis may occur.

[Contraindications]
Contraindicated in patients with allergies to this product.

[Precautions]
1. Generally not suitable for patients with ulcer disease or bronchial asthma.
2. Consuming alcohol while taking this product may cause a disulfiram-like reaction, manifested as flushing, itching, fever, headache, nausea, abdominal pain, tachycardia, elevated blood pressure, chest tightness, and irritability. Therefore, alcohol should be avoided during medication and within 5 days after discontinuation.
3. Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G-6PD) deficiency may cause hemolytic anemia.

[Use in Special Populations]
Precautions in children: Contraindicated in neonates. Precautions during pregnancy and lactation: Contraindicated for use by pregnant and lactating women.
Precautions for the elderly: Not yet known.

[Drug Interactions]
1. Concomitant use with tricyclic antidepressants may cause acute toxic psychosis and should be avoided.
2. This product may enhance the effects of levodopa.
3. Sympathomimetic amines, tyramine-rich foods, appetite suppressants, and monoamine oxidase inhibitors may enhance the effects of this product.

[Pharmacological Actions]
This product is a nitrofuran antibacterial agent. It exhibits moderate antibacterial activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including Salmonella, Shigella, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Enterobacter, Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis, Streptococcus pyogenes, Vibrio cholerae, Campylobacter, and Bacteroides. At certain concentrations, it also exhibits activity against Trichomonas and Giardia lamblia. Its mechanism of action is to interfere with bacterial oxidoreductase, thereby blocking normal bacterial metabolism.
